[ He walks right in, setting down the basket on the nearest table or counter. ]

You were?

[ His eyebrows raise in surprise. People think about him? He has a hard time believing that. ]

How are you? Hanging in there?

[ That tired smile tells him quite a bit—she must have had a rough time. Everyone did. ]

Yeah! With everything that recently happened, I was worried you might have gotten hurt.

[ Whether it be from his own transformation, or attempting to calm someone else down, she had been concerned about Fai's safety this entire time. ]

I'm doing alright. A bit tired from trying to calm people down but... [ She lets out a small yawn before glancing at the basket that he brought. Despite her exhausted expression, she's deeply grateful he had been thinking about her. ] thankfully I didn't go feral like some of the others. How about you?

[ He's glad to hear that she didn't go feral—Fai would have felt terrible that he never found her to help her calm down if she had. ]

Seems like we both got lucky, because I didn't either. My roommate on the other hand did, but I was able to calm him down.

[ Along with a few others, but that happened to the person he lives with was pretty notable to him. ]

I brought some muffins, so hopefully we can enjoy them together and rest a little.

[ Beatrix could probably use some rest. ]

[ She's so beyond relieved to hear that he didn't go feral. Likewise, she would feel bad she wasn't around to help calm him down. At the same time, Fai does strike her as the sort of person that wouldn't give into his emotions too easily, so she's not surprised that he managed to have a cool head throughout the strange ordeal. ]

Thank goodness you were able to calm your roommate down! I'm glad you both came out of it okay.

[ She can't imagine how awkward it must have been to have your roommate suddenly go feral on you. ]

Sheesh, you're going to spoil me rotten at this rate! [ With a laugh, she doesn't hestiate for a moment to take a muffin. ] But I really appreciate it thank you. You're always looking out for my well being.

[ He's glad they did too. It was pretty rough, and he has a feeling there's a lot of things they'll both have to talk about eventually... but for now, things are good.

Fai smiles as he watches her take a muffin. He laughs softly, with a hint of sheepishness. ]

We're in this together, aren't we? It would be a real shame if I didn't try to look out for you.

[ His smile softens, becoming noticeably more real. ]

Besides, I like spending time with you.

Mm, you're right! Times like these, we gotta stick together.

[ Although she's still feeling a bit tired, seeing his smile is enough to energize her. She swears that even in her most exhausted state, Fai would be able to cheer her up and uplift her with much needed energy.

Plus!! The muffin is also a huge bonus. Nibbling on it has perked her up for sure. ]

I really enjoy spending time with you as well! You've been such a good friend. If it wasn't for you, I might have gone crazy living here.

I'm glad I've been of some help to you.

[ Hearing that makes him feel like he's doing some things right. It's a nice feeling. ]

You've helped me as well, in the same way. I need friends I can rely on here. Otherwise, I'd feel all alone.

[ He laughs, picking up a muffin. What he says is true, though. He's used to traveling with other people, so here he has felt alone. It's strange... Fai is used to feeling alone, but losing his traveling companions has magnified that feeling. ]

If you ever need someone to rely on, you can always count on me! I'll do whatever I can do help you.

[ At first, Beatrix had thought that she was all alone in this world, without any of her friends. Much to her relief, she eventually ran into Vane and Will. So at least she wasn't by herself. ]

... Have you been by yourself in this world?

[ The thought of that makes her sad. ]

[ It really does mean a lot to him.

He takes a bite of the muffin when she asks that question, and he swallows before answers. ]

I have. However... I'm glad for it. I'd rather they not be here, so I don't mind bearing that burden by myself.

[ It would be too hard on his companions, he thinks. Plus... he really doesn't want the added layer of synchrony when it comes to his relationship with Kurogane. Everything between them is already complicated enough. ]

You're a great person, Fai. It really says a lot about you to consider your friends like that.

[ The fact that he puts the safety of his friends above his own loneliness totally proves that he's a good person. In retrospect, now she kind of feels bad complaining to Sanji here recently about not having any of her close companions with her. ]

I know I can't really do much but I'll definitely make sure you're not lonely as long as I'm here!

[ He wouldn't agree with that, so he decides not to say anything. While he would rather they not be here for their own sakes, he also thinks they're just better off without him in general. That doesn't make him a great person, in his mind. ]

I know you'll be able to provide lots of company. I already feel a lot less lonely just being here with you now!

[ Plus, baking things for someone else also makes him feel less lonely. He's not just doing things for himself. ]

Yeah! Same goes for me. Having you around has been a huge positive.

[ Being all alone without nice people like Fai would have totally sucked. ]

Two of my crewmates are actually here with me but at first I thought I was alone. But, you were one of the first people I encountered here and having you around definitely made me feel less lonely!

[ That gets him to smile. It's really strange, being considered a positive in someone's life. There's a part of him that really wants to deny it and run away so Beatrix doesn't get hurt but... he likes it too.
