[The last time Sanji went on a train, it was for something far less pleasant. It's been over two years, but he hasn't forgotten that particular adventure. Rescuing Nico Robin from the shitty World Government with Franky and Usopp... fighting a bunch of shitheads, including a guy that shot ramen at him. From his nose.
Yeah, it was stupid.
But this is completely different from that time, and Sanji finds himself quite amazed by just how fast this train is. Not to mention, the fact that this train is in the air, really helps Sanji to appreciate how unique of an experience this is. He's having a pretty decent time...
Especially when he sees the lovely Beatrix waving at him.]
BEA-CHAWWWWWWWWWN~~!
[Sanji definitely shouts that out loud, not caring about the multitude of stares he's getting from people nearby. He doesn't care about the staring, not when the lovely Beatrix is patting a seat next to her. This is a train to heaven, he's sure of it now. He twirls a bit as he makes his way over to her, before finally taking a seat, much to the relief of everyone else on board. Taking one for the team, Beatrix...]
It's ok, the stares don't bother her either. She's used to being on the receiving end of weird stares (???), herself. If anything, seeing and hearing Sanji's loud energy never fails to brighten her mood. With everything that's going on, she's happy to see him in high spirits. ]
Yay! The trip is going to be way more fun sitting next to you.
[ Sitting in silence all by herself for hours would make for a very long and boring trip. She can always count on Sanji to keep her entertained.
Now that they are both settled in, she nudges over a glass of ginger ale and some pretzels she received from the train's staff. She had been sipping on the beverage and nibbling on some of the pretzels here and there. While she greatly appreciates the hospitality, she still figures that someone else might need it more than she does. ]
Do you get motion sickness easily? They gave these to me but I'll be fine.
[ Riding on airships all her life has made her practicually immune to motion sickness. So while she didn't need it, she wasn't about to turn down free food and would feel bad about letting it go to waste. ]
But once Sanji is finished fawning (which probably takes a few moments), he can actually talk to Beatrix like a regular human being. The only thing better than enjoying a new mode of transportation is sharing that enjoyment with a lovely lady. He's truly so fortunate right now...!
He sees the ginger ale and pretzels in front of her, and for a moment, a ping of concern goes through Sanji. Is she doing okay? She seems fine, but it doesn't erase that worry. He definitely understands that some people are unable to handle these sort of rides, especially if they're not used to it.
It's only through her reassurance that the anxiety that's been building in Sanji tempers down.]
Thank you, but I'll be okay. Living most of my life on a boat, it's hard for me to get motion sickness. [Sanji smiles brightly at her, fully comfortable and relaxed now.] You seem to be doing well, Bea-chan. Used to being on trains?
Wow, you've lived on a boat most of your life? That's incredible.
[ The mention of that causes Beatrix's eyes to sparkle in awe. She didn't know what kind of world Sanji came from but she didn't imagine that he would live his life on a boat. It sounds unique and honestly, kind of fun? ]
Yeah! I'll be fine. Back home our main method of transportation is airships, so I'm used to this sort of thing. [ She smiles. ] I guess on the off chance we both start feeling bad, you're welcome to the ginger ale and pretzels.
[ Sharing is caring, after all! It's not much but given that Sanji has always considered her well being, she wanted to do the same. ]
[He used to live on a giant snail for his early years, but Sanji doesn't plan on bringing that particular part of his past up. It sounds stupid anyway, even to him.]
Sure did, Bea-chan. Started working on a floating restaurant when I was 9 years old or so. Stayed there for a decade, but now I'm on a pirate ship with my nakama. Honestly, being on steady ground for longer than a few months start to feel weird.
[Do islands floating in the sky count as steady ground? Sanji isn't sure.]
Oh? [Sanji seems to brighten up even further when she mentions airships back home. Now that sounds shitty awesome, even to him. He enjoys flying on his own, but having a full fledged dinner with his crew while on an airship is something else.] Everyone's actually flying through the air? Common to eat dinners and live for months on an airship too?
[ If you asked Beatrix, islands floating in the sky totally counts as steady ground. It's the norm where she's from. She's not even going to bat an eye at the idea of a floating restaurant. ]
That's amazing you've been working at a restaurant since you were that young. No wonder why you're such a good cook! But a pirate's life of traveling with your nakama sounds way more fun.
[ The thought of traveling with crewmates brings a smile to her face. Being at Sanji's birthday party cemented how close they are as a crew and it warms her heart. ]
That's right! The airship that I frequently travel in is incredibly huge, it's practically like a home. One of our crewmates even turned the ship's subgalley into like a mini bar. There's a wide selection of drinks and she's always serving us her delicious home cooking. If you got to visit our airship, you would totally have a blast.
It took me convincing to go with them, but... I'm glad I went.
[As much as he loves Zeff and the Baratie, he doesn't regret his decision to go with Luffy and the others. Not only to find the All Blue, but finding even more friends-- more family to be with. It's more than he'd ever imagined, and he considers himself lucky every day. Reiju gave him that chance all those years ago and he's truly found kind people out in the sea, and even here.
Like Bea-chan. He's enamored, as always, but he loves hearing her talk about her world and the things that bring her happiness. Traveling around in an airship does sound cool though, and that's a fully unbiased opinion there.]
That really sounds incredible. [Sanji rubs his chin as he thinks about this more. It would be really great if they can emulate such an experience, but being on this train isn't quite the same still. Although...]
I saw some big ships flying through the air, but those shitheads aren't allowing us to board them. [...] I could kick their ass and take over one.
sorry for the late!
